I am back!
Hey there everyone…sorry to make you wait. We have been incredibly busy. Two weeks ago John comes home on Thursday and says…”Ellen we need to get out of Great Falls for the weekend, how does Sand Point, Idaho sound?” I was overjoyed. We booked the hotel Thursday night, dropped the boys off at the kennel, and were on the rode after grabbing a bite with friends Friday evening. We listened to our book on tape and enjoyed the 5.5 hour drive. We got to Sand Point at midnight, checked in, got our jammies on, and went to bed. The next morning we drove into the mountains and checked out the ski resort, no snow yet, but there were some really cute shops, that were closed, but still cute to look at. There was an open coffee shop, so John was in heaven. The guy that worked there, was also the manager of a coffee house downtown…so John took his recommendation to try their delicious coffee. It served as our car air freshener the rest of our trip. We then drove back into the village, took a little stroll along the “lake” beach, and imagined how much fun it would be to return to it in the summer time. After our stroll we decided that a beverage was in order so we found this cute cafe on the Lake called “Spuds” est. “Just in time”. It was incredibly precious. We enjoyed our drinks looking out on the lake and the boat port, where retired couples and their dogs loaded up there gorgeous boats for a sunset ride on the lake. It was only 4 pm by this time, but John and I were getting hungry. We decided that we would eat at “Spuds” for dinner, but since it was going to be an early supper, we left, went to the grocery store and got a snack for later…chips, salsa, and a veggie tray. We went back to the hotel to go potty and freshen up, and then walked back over to the best little cafe ever. By the time that we got there they had changed over to the dinner menu. It was gorgeous! John and I split a steak with red potatoes, and grilled veggies. We had delicious side salads to start and the most amazing apple berry cobbler I have ever had! It was so fun. We then strolled back to our hotel room got in our jammies and watched some cable TV, which is a luxury to us since we don’t have it anymore. Then around 11 pm we whipped out the little snackies we had bought, it was the perfect night cap. Sunday we took off early so that we could squeeze in a trip through Glacier, and that we did. It was an amazing weekend!! Now, since that little weekend getaway it has been all work and no play, and in fact I am writing this on my lunch break, so I ought to go. I love you all sooo much!!!
