So we have had some pretty exciting stuff happen around the Mayer household. Yesterday John climbed Longs Peak, the highest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. I am so flippin proud of him!! It is 14,259 feet, and the furthest north of Colorado’s fourteeners. They had amazingly good weather for such a dreary day on the ground. He said that they had a little drizzle at one point, but nothing that looked like a storm. I am so happy that John was able to fulfill his longing for a serious physical accomplishment in God’s great outdoors. He said that is was harder than he imagined, and that he is so happy that he did it. My dad told him that he is passing his title, of the Hikemaster, down to John. This means that he will be the caboose on every hike, and that he will be our guide for our children’s generation. Hiking and Estes are so important to my daddy, and I am so happy, as is he, that John will carry on that legacy. Another high point that was just decided today, is that my baby sissy, Alison, is coming with us to Montana for a week. I am so thrilled I can hardly stand it!! We are going to have so much fun hanging out and cooking new and fun meals for Johnny. My family knows nothing really about the military except for what John has taught them. So it will be fun to show Alison what the Air Force is all about. I am also excited to show her off to my friends. I am sure that they will love meeting her. Plus two of our friends just got new puppies for her to play with. So she is going to be overwhelmed with fun. Well, tonight is our last night in Colorado, and we all are going to a nice dinner, so I should go make myself pretty. I love and miss you all terribly!!

Oh wow!! Again I have to say that it has been an awfully long time since I last posted, and I am sorry for that. However, it does indicate that John and I have been very busy with life and work, which is always wonderful. I am still absolutely in love with my job, and John the same. We have been enjoying playing softball with our church, working hard, and soaking up the wonderful summer sun. Right now I find myself lounging on this wonderfully plush couch in my parents cabin in Estes Park. We just got back from wondering around downtown, checking out all the outdoor stores. John has been stocking up on small thises and thats for his hike up Longs Peak on Thursday. He is going on this mission with my cousins boyfriend, Kyle. He did his one and only prerequisite, Ypsilon, it was a 7 mile hike with an elevation of 13,500. So far it has been wonderful enjoying the mountains and my family. We also had an incredible time at our friends’, Lucas and Kim, wedding. It was BEAUTIFUL. The service was held in this lovely chapel in downtown Boulder, and the reception was at an art gallery. So in every picture there is a beautiful piece of art…so gorgeous, and so fun. It was awesome to see old friends, we miss them so much. You know that you are good friends when you have not seen them in over a year, and everything feels the same. It was sad to see them go, not knowing the next time that we will see them. Anyways, onto more pleasant thoughts. This summer is INCREDIBLE!!!! John and I had not had a day off in over 5 months, and so we are loving it. We cannot believe that we have another week long vacation a month from now, where we get to see more of our long missed family….we are so stinkin blessed!!! I LOVE LIFE!!!!! And with that said, I should get back to living it. I love and miss you all. Here are a few precious pictures from the wedding. Hugs and kisses!
