Road Trips are Great!
Soooo..we just got back from our two day trip to Whitefish, MT. It was so much fun. I love road trips. The drive out there was pretty snowy with not much visibility, but the closer we got to Glacier the better it got. I had almost forgotten how beautiful glacier water is. It is so green it is unbelievable. We drove as far as we could into Glacier National Park, before we were brutally rebuffed by the DO NOT ENTER/ROAD IS CLOSED signs. Then we drove another hour until we reached Whitefish. It is possibly one of the cutest little towns. It reminds me a lot of Estes Park. Every building was built with an aesthetic purpose. We sat in the car for about 20 minutes calling hotels and B&Bs trying to figure out what sounded the most cost friendly, as well as the most fun for an evening. We decided on this precious bed and breakfast. It was amazing. We walked in and there was a fire roaring in the sitting room, a beautiful kitchen with hanging copper pots, and two glorious rooms set aside for us with king beds and jacuzzis! We went out to dinner at one of our favorite Montana restaurants, Mackenzie River Pizza Company, and then headed back to our lovely lodge to cozy up in bed. The next morning I was feeling a little strange, but thought that I would shake it off so that I could enjoy the amazing homemade huckleberry buttermilk waffles that the Lodge owner made for us. After a quick breakfast we were on our way to a neat little Mercantile an hour from where we were staying. It was the prettiest drive with this amazing little shop at the end of it. The couple who managed the shop is only there in the winter. They wake up every morning at 4 to start baking homemade goodies. There are all sorts of little knick knacks to spike your interest. Everything from homemade lip balms to imported jewelry. After buying a couple of little trinkets and walking around for a bit, we were on our way. We stopped off in a little town to eat lunch at a typical American Diner. It was at this junction that I realized that I really was not feeling well. I took some medicine and we were on our way. I passed out for most of the ride home. After arriving home…I dragged myself inside took a bath and curled up in bed. After a little while of laying there I made a trip to the restroom and all that wonderful food ended up flushed down the toilet. I have decided that there is nothing better and worse than throwing up. It is incredibly awful while it is happening, and yet you feel so much better when you are done. Anyway, I know that is a bit graphic. All and all the trip was AWESOME, but I came home with a tummy bug, and Dad is fighting a cold. I guess it comes with the territory, and by territory I mean a week of beautiful snow.
